Versatility, Quality, Safety

We bring the best of both worlds to our horses and clients.
At Broken S Equine, we pride ourselves on not only offering horses who have completed a dynamic and versatile training program; but also on starting with horses that have solid foundations, and fantastic minds.
Whether you come to us for a show horse, a family horse, a young prospect, an amateur mount, or a first pony for the kids - you can expect a well rounded, good minded  horse that is ready to take you wherever you dream.

What Sets Us Apart

With Beau's background in raising and training reining, ranch versatility, and working ranch horses, paired with Kieran's experience in the hunter/jumper and eventing disciplines, we offer a perspective that is both uncommon and effective. Our horses are not defined by one discipline, or confined to any one arena. This diverse background allows us to develop horses with genuine, well rounded, versatility while prioritizing rideability, safety, and suitability for the amateur rider.

Buyers Guide

Broken S Equine offers a wide range of quality, versatile horses from various disciplines and backgrounds. It is our goal to match each horse with the most suitable owner. With many of our horses selling site unseen, or off of video, we tray to be as thorough as possible with our program and process. For all perspective buyers, we have put together a few things that we encourage everyone to read.

Coming to Try a Horse

Our horses go through many different situations and go many places while in our program to see what disciplines and types of programs they are best suited for. No horse is the same and that’s why we showcase each horses talents in the full video, and highlight clips, we post of each horse. With that said, regardless of how well we know each horse, it’s impossible for us to know how a horse will be with a new rider. When you try one of our horses here before buying, we both get to see how suitable the match is. Appointments can be made anytime, and we always welcome your trainer to come along.

Buying Site Unseen

We understand that not everyone can come to our farm in person, which is why we put so much time into our videos and descriptions. The majority of our horses do end up being purchased by clients off of video. Many horses go across the country and even internationally! This is not an uncommon process for us, and we are more than happy to walk you through it to make your purchase a simple and stress free experience. In this case, we love to hear from you and your trainer, if you have one, and take the time to chat about the process and what you’re looking for in your next equine partner. The more we can learn about your riding abilities, experience, and goals with your horse, the more we can help ensure a good match.

Vet Checks

Most horses have basic exams done already, however clients are always welcome to have additional exams performed by a vet of their choosing. Our horses go through a rigourus selection process prior to being listed, being tested by various riders across many disciplines. That being said, we do not have X-ray vision, so we always encourage folks to do whatever they need to feel comfortable with their purchase. We take pride in representing our horses truthfully in our ads and will always disclose any maintenance, vices, or limitations if they have any.

We can recommend clinics in the area, and can trailer to larger clinics for radiographs (see Deposit section for more information)

You may also opt to have your own vet come with you on the day of your trial.

Trying Multiple Horses

When we talk before scheduling a visit, we will determine what horses will and will not work for you. If we do happen to have similar horses who could potentially be your next partner, then, we are happy to let you try both. Horses , like people, are all very different, and we know our horses well! So as long as you are honest about your capabilities, riding style, and goals, we will be able to figure out what horse is best suited for you.

Deposits/ Holding A Horse

All horses are available on a first come, first serve basis. Clients have the option to put down a $1000 nonrefundable deposit. Deposits can be made via Paypal, Venmo, or wire transfer.

Your deposit goes toward the purchase price of the horse.

Clients having radiographs or additional exams done at off property clinics are required to put down a deposit. The clinics are upwards of 2 hours away from our farm, and in order to trailer the horse for the day trip a deposit must be placed with us immediately after an appointment is scheduled.

Deposits hold the horse for 5 days only. Special accommodations may be considered during holidays or in the event of delays in obtaining a timely pre-purchase exam. After that period the horse will be available to the public again. The deposit is nonrefundable because our horses sell fairly quickly and taking them off the market forces us to turn down other buyers. This is the only way to be fair to all interested parties. Otherwise all horses are available on a first come, first serve basis. Without a deposit the horse will continue to be shown and advertised, even if you have an appointment to come see them.

Are Deposits Transferrable?

Generally speaking, no.  If you place a deposit to try one horse, hoping to see the three others that are listed on our site, chances are they will be sold or unavailable by your arrival. We cannot keep a deposit on hold for a future horse for you. Some horses sell within minutes of being listed, others sell a week later, and some even sell off of just a "Sneak Peek" video or photo. To keep things simple, your deposit is to hold one specific horse for you for the 5 days allotted.

Trials, Leases, & Payment Plans

We do not allow trials or payment plans on any of our horses.

Horses available for lease will be advertised as such. All lease horses must be fully insured for the duration of the lease.

You are welcome to come out to our farm, by appointment to ride. You are welcome, and encouraged, to bring your trainer along to give you a lesson. Folks can also come try the horse on their own, and we are happy to let you ride in the arena or trail ride if you’d like.

Sales & Online Auctions

We consign a number of our horses to quality sales throughout the year, both online and in person.

When a horse is consigned to a sale, we will provide you with the location of the sale as well as how to bid in person, online, or over the phone. Links are always added to every post. You are always welcome to come see and vet the horse prior to the sale. When a horse is consigned to the sale it will NOT sell prior to the sale and must be bought through the sale company. In cases where the horse is consigned to a sale, we do NOT allow people to put down a deposit to hold the horse. When the sale takes place it if fair game for anyone who wants to bid. In cases of sales that have “Buy Now” options, folks are welcome to take advantage of that and we as sellers do not get to change or negotiate on that price.

Shipping

We can always help with arranging shipping for your horse. We have both in house shippers, and have reputable contacts who frequent your area or state. Unless we have previously agreed upon it, shipping is NOT included in the sale price.

Payment & Next Steps

We accept a few forms of payment including: wire transfers, certified bank checks, and cash. The most common, and easiest form of payment is a wire transfer. Horses cannot leave our farm until they are paid in full and payment is cleared.

Horses are welcome to stay at our farm as after purchase. Horses MUST be fully insured by you if they are staying on our property once they are purchased.  A fee of $55/day for basic board is applied to all horses being kept at our farm waiting shipping after the first 7 days. Training board is available for an additional fee.

Bringing Your Horse Home

Taking a horse out of their home environment can be stressful, even the quietest horses can take time to adjust to their new people and homes. We always recommend being prepared by having a course of GastroGuard on hand for your horses arrival to help their stomachs stay settled. Even short trailer rides and slight changes in environment can cause an upset stomach or ulcers in horses. Taking this step to prepare and prevent is one small thing you can do to ensure a more seamless transition from our barn to yours.

If you would like us to begin treatment prior to shipping, please let us know! We do not charge extra for this service, however we do ask you to pay for the medication ( $45 per tube )

Trade-In Program & Sales Policy

All horses are sold on an “as-is, where-is” basis, and all sales are final. We do not offer refunds under any circumstances. However, our primary goal is to ensure both horse and rider are happy, comfortable, and well-matched. If your new horse is not the right fit, we are pleased to offer our Trade-In Program to help find a more suitable partner.

Trade-In Program Guidelines

30-Day Adjustment Period

We require that the horse remain in your care for a minimum of 30 days before a trade request can be considered. Every horse needs time to adjust to a new environment, routine, and rider, and many initial concerns resolve once the horse has had adequate time to settle into its new home. To ensure fairness for both horse and buyer, this adjustment period is mandatory.

Finding a Suitable Trade

We will actively work to identify a horse that may be a better fit for your needs. Trade opportunities are offered from horses entering or completing our program before they are advertised to the public. Horses currently listed on our website, social media pages, or other sales platforms are not eligible for trades. Please note that not every horse entering our program will be suitable for every buyer, and all trade options are offered solely at our discretion.

Care of the Original Horse

The horse being traded must remain in your possession until a suitable replacement has been identified and approved. During this time, the buyer is responsible for all routine care, including feeding, farrier services, veterinary care, and general maintenance. Horses must be returned in substantially the same condition as when originally purchased.

Transportation Costs

Buyers are responsible for all transportation expenses associated with the trade, including shipping the original horse back to Broken S Equine and shipping the replacement horse to its new home.

Pre-Purchase Exams Encouraged

As with any horse purchase, we strongly encourage and welcome trial rides, veterinary examinations, and any other evaluations you deem appropriate on horses offered as potential trade options.

Beau

Beau grew up in the saddle right here in Missouri. From a young age, he worked alongside his grandpa training, starting, and working horses. Beau enjoys reining horses best of all, but also enjoys training and exposing horses to do all aspects of ranch work. Our program has a strong focus on versatility, and Beaus ability to bring any horse out of the arena and make them confident in their task is one of the most important parts of our operation.
