Carter is a 5 year old Friesian x Quarter Horse gelding standing 16.1 hands, raised and trained by close friends who put their heart into him. He’s as delightful in the barn as he is under saddle—funny, personable, and the kind of horse everyone falls for the moment they meet him.

 

We are always getting calls from folks who have back or hip problems, and this is the exact horse for a rider that needs smooth, steady, and comfortable. All three gaits are like riding a cloud. He’s the perfect balance of whoa-and-go: no constant nagging to keep him moving, and no checking the brakes to keep things civilized. Just steady, smooth, and dependable - in the ring and out. 

 

Carter is the definition of “you can take me anywhere.” He’s tackled all terrain trails, been a trusty babysitter for kids, gone to some local events, working equitation clinics, and even tried his hand at western dressage. He has been exposed to hounds, seen all the obstacles hunt country can offer, and gone camping! He’s packed around husbands, handled varied environments, and always shown up with that same calm, confidence building mindset.

In the ring, Carter is straightforward and easy. He has great transitions, breaks, and attitude. He is smart and understands what his rider wants from him. He is happy to ride in the bridle, or on a loose rein. He will ride English and western, or just in a halter- bareback in the field. He picks up both leads, has been schooling his flying changes, and will pop around a small course in the ring. He is tolerant of the most timid and nervous riders, and is wise beyond his years. If you make a mistake, he handles it like a gentleman and keeps doing his job. 

 

Out of the arena, Carter takes care of his rider. Whether you want to go on a relaxing trail ride, attend a clinic, or hit the cross country course, Carter will keep you safe. Over fences, Carter always gets you to the other side. If you are the rider who thinks “did that jump get bigger and scarier than the last time I saw it?”, you need a Carter in your life. He keeps his cool and finds the best distance possible. His jump is flat, never jumping you out of the tack, and he is sure footed and steady all the time. Carter will cross water, go up and down steep hills, and is safe in all kinds of traffic. He’s ridden right through town, over bridges, and through tunnels. You really can take him anywhere! 

 

In the barn, Carter is a love bug. The kids are always climbing on, under, and over him. He is so sweet and kind, and always gentle as a lamb. He’s happy living inside or out, and gets along well with his various pasture mates. Carter is a gentleman on the trailer, is easy to load, and will stand tied as long as you need him to. He is no drama, an easy keeper, and has no vices.
